Deadly drinking game

Two bartenders aged 21 and 18 were convicted today of grievous bodily harm for their role in a death of 16-year-old boy who died from alcohol poisoning. Apparently they served at least 44 shots of tequila to him before he fell into a coma.

The two of them were sentenced to 10 months of social training while the third bartender was acquitted.

16-year-old identified as Lukas W got into a drinking contest with one of bartenders but while he drank tequila shots bartender drank water. Four of them tricked the boy who fell into a coma after 25 rounds. The boy was at least 10 times over the legal drinking limit when admitted to Berlin hospital.
Forth bartender who's still waiting for a trial is facing more serious charges of bodily harm with fatal consequences.

Doctors battled for 5 weeks to save the life his life but he died last March from circulation problems. Berlin police say they have dealt with 663 cases of intoxicated children and teenagers in the past nine months, 245 of these cases leading to arrests.

His and similar cases triggered a national debate over teenage alcohol abuse pointing out the danger of "flat-rate" binge-drinking parties where customers pay a one-off entry fee and are served unlimited strong spirits all night.
